"Robin Fox is a Melbourne based sound and visual artist currently working with live digital media in improvised, composed and installation settings.

He creates audio-visual works for the cathode ray oscilloscope, which have been released on the DVD Backscatter (Synaesthesia Records). The DVD has screened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival; Mittwoschule (Berlin); 8th International New Media Arts Festival (Riga) and TRANSIT Festival (Switzerland).

Live audiovisual performances have taken place across Europe including appearances at the Netmage Festival (Bologna); Wien Modern Festival (Vienna); Noise and Glamour Festival (Moscow) and Transacoustic Festival (Auckland). This work, in constant development, is currently being realised with a high-powered, audio controlled laser system with recent performances at the Institute for Modern Art (Brisbane); NIME06 (Paris); Wellington International Jazz Festival (New Zealand); Totally Huge New Music Festival (Perth); October Contemporary Festival (Hong Kong).

A major European tour took place in May/June 2007 with laser based presentations at Musique Action Festival (Nancy, France); VENN Festival (Bristol, UK); Music Genera Festival (Szczesin, Poland) and Neia Musik Festival (Mulhouse, France) among numerous other appearances. His recent installation work Volta has featured at the RoslynOxley9 Gallery and Orange Regional Art Gallery in 2006 and in 2007 featured at the Asian Art Biennale (Tapei).

Musically, he has performed with some of the world’s leading improvisers including Jon Rose, Tony Buck, Oren Ambarchi, Lasse Marhaug, Jerome Noetinger, Clayton Thomas (Album Substation released by Room40, 2005), Erkki Veltheim, Natasha Anderson and Sean Baxter among many others and has an ongoing collaborative duo with composer/performer Anthony Pateras. This duo is documented on Coagulate released through Synaesthesia in 2003 and Flux Compendium released on eMego in 2006. He is also a member of Beta-erko, a quartet recently released on Berlin based Quecksilber label.

Fox is a regular performer and speaker at festivals around Australia (What is Music, Liquid Architecture, Electrofringe, SOOB, NowNOW, Big Day Out) and performs regularly across Europe and Asia."

-- SYNOPSIS --

Since January 2007 C.H.O.P.P.A. has been the only regular improvised music series in Singapore presenting monthly concerts showcasing the underbelly of the Singapore and regional music scenes and giving a forum for sound artists and musicians to present their work.

C.H.O.P.P.A. turns 1!!
C.H.O.P.P.A. FESTIVAL 08 will mark 1 year of operations for the C.H.O.P.P.A. series that has been curated by Tim O’Dwyer and Darren Moore who are both originally from Australia and are current lecturers in Jazz and Pop music at LASALLE College of the Arts.

C.H.O.P.P.A. Improvised Music Festival will be truly international in 2008 bringing together 20 musicians from Japan, Malaysia, Sweden, Australia and Singapore featuring noise, electro-acoustic, lap-top, interactive sound art, free jazz and kraut rock.

The festival will run over two consecutive nights from Friday the 25th to Saturday the 26th of January at LASALLE College of the Arts with festival after-parties on each night featuring guest DJ’s around the corner upstairs at Blu Jaz in Bali Lane.

Goh Lee Kwang, Good Vibrations

Album Launch – Video Installations – Retrospective concert

Internationally respected sound artist Goh Lee Kwang, who recently returned from a 10 city tour of Europe, has a new album! His first album in three years, it is called Good Vibrations – selected solo improvisation with stereo dj mixer, released on his own label, Herbal. Recorded from concerts and studios in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Stuttgart, Rotterdam, Krems and Kuala Lumpur, the tracks were selected for their closeness to the original sound (of the mixer) without any treatment. For this launch, Lee Kwang performs different sounds every night, with materials from all 8 years of his mercurial career. There will be two video installations (world premier) and a sound installation (" Internal Pleasures" 4th Edition).

The EGC is a collective of artists, activists, writers and scholars, who make art that deal with issues around voice, access and privilege through the making and exhibiting of art. They have exhibited in USA, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, Croatia, Japan and more since 2001.

"Crossing Over- from here to there, from there to here" will be EGC's first appearance in South East Asia, where three representatives: Pamela S. Booker, Tara Smelt and Colleen Merlisz (USA) will be here in person. All artwork in this exhibition were created especially for this South East Asian tour to Malaysia and Singapore! Projek Wayang
is proud to announce our latest public performance, almost in conjunction with Hari Raya festivities: Wayang Rakyat @ The Curve. Featuring Aziz Ali, Azmyl Yunor, and Fahmi Fadzil, with puppets by Fahmi Reza.

There will be two performances over four dates, with two workshops on introductory puppetmaking for kids.

Synopses

Sang Kancil and Sang Buaya
One day, as he was walking around the jungle, Sang Kancil spots a grove of fruit trees across the river. As he tries to cross the river, he encounters the fearsome Sang Buaya, who is intent on eating the little mouse deer. What will Sang Kancil do to get at those fruit trees?

Pak Pandir and the Bowl of Honey
Mak Andih has grown tired of Pak Pandir’s loafing around the house, so she sends him out to gather things from the jungle that they could sell. Pak Pandir finds some honey, and bringing it home decides to eat it instead of selling it, against Mak Andih’s wishes. What becomes of Pak Pandir and his greedy ways?
